So...I got married!!!

We were married November 23rd, 2013 at Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center in Louisville, Kentucky. (I'm from Louisville!) It was beautiful. We got there in the morning and set up, us girls started getting ready and we were taking pictures by 1:00. It was freezing outside, but it makes for excellent pictures--because if it were warm, I'd be a sweaty, red-faced mess! The wedding started at 3:00 and the ceremony was finished by 3:30. My uncle is a Chaplin in the Army, so he married us. My Cousin made the cake and all the food. My in-law made the wine favors. (Actually made it...I designed the labels). I made the banners, the welcome sign, the painted bottle center pieces, the hand written signs....down to the invites....which I used to create our wedding cake topper.

It was a very DIY wedding....the cost was $8,000 total. Our first dance was to the Turtles, "So Happy Together" and we danced the night away after that. We honeymooned in a cabin right on the Ohio river, about 10 miles from downtown Louisville (my uncle owns the cabin, so our stay was free!). We went downtown daily and partied nightly. It was perfect.

i hope everyone is having a wonderful day! today is nothing special for me...justin was sick all weekend and just left for work. i feel like i got a lot accomplished this weekend all while taking care of sicky. i got the dishes, laundry, lesson plans and grading done. i also vacuumed. grocery shopped. goodwill shopped. got drunk. went to lunch with some girlfriends and got my nails done. i feel like i shoved a weeks worth of things into 3 days. whew!

i also just found this via a friend's facebook, and i thought it was the most fantastic thing ever! if you were born in the mid eighties like me (1985 represent!) or early nineties (but i'd still say more mid eighties) then you would remember these toys! i would be lying if i said i didn't know some of these. oh no my friends, i know every. single. one. i had a good chunk of these, being the first born child of my two other siblings, i had 5 years to be spoiled by my parents before my little brother came along. and boy was i spoiled when it came to toys. because my grandparents spoiled me too. keep in mind, i was still a good kid, just had a SHIT ton of toys. yay! but if i didn't have the ones on this list, my friends did and i have many a fond memory playing with these. some of the board games my friend kelly and i still would play together in high school for laughs! kelly is one of my bridesmaids too :) i think we are connected from the 90s! hehe!

now all i have left to do is work on those beers...and don't mind if i do!

Welcome September!

Happy first day of September, everyone! it is officially my favorite time of year! when starbucks has their pumpkin spiced latte, and seasonal Octoberfest beer is out on display! we couldn't decide which brand to try, we know we love good ole sam adams, but couldn't resist trying these other two. even though the weather is still hot as balls outside and it's humid and sticky, it's now september so i am hard core fantasizing about sweaters, boots, hot drinks and a nip in the air. soon, my friends, soon.
